How  do  EVS  Compare  to  GAS  Cars  in  the  US??

12/3/2018

Picture
This recent update by the Union of Concerned Scientists shows just how efficient new EVs are regardless of where you are on the national grid. Even on Oahu, where I believe diesel is predominantly used for electricity, one would need a gas car that gets ~47 mpg to best the efficiency of the newest EVs. As the grid continues to add renewable energy to the mix these numbers will only grow. See the original post and maps HERE.

We have just published a new paper in Environmental Science and Technology that identifies an extensive bacterial mat along the seafloor in the Santa Barbara Basin. The discovery was made possible by an autonomous underwater vehicle armed with two high resolution cameras and has implications for nitrogen and sulfur cycles in the basin. An interesting read if you get a chance! Also see some PRESS from UCSB here.
